Working together for a healthy future for your child

More and more children in Rotterdam are growing up in an environment where physical activity and healthy eating are not a given. 010 Fit’R Feijenoord helps children aged 4–12 live healthier lives in a positive way — together with their parents. Participation is completely free and subsidised by the Municipality of Rotterdam.

What is 010 Fit’R? Powerkids in Feijenoord

010 Fit’R is a Rotterdam-based programme for children who are (mildly to) moderately overweight. It offers a unique combination of sport, nutrition and lifestyle coaching aimed at long-term behaviour change. The programme runs for 15 weeks and takes place twice a year (starting in January and September 2026).

Each week, participants take part in:

• Movement sessions led by sports coaches from RLTV Deuce Again, supported by a physiotherapist. Children learn through play to improve their motor skills, gain confidence and discover that being active is fun!

• Nutrition and lifestyle workshops by Dietetics Practice Gülgün Özen, tailored to age and culture. Children learn what healthy eating looks like, parents receive practical tips and sometimes cook together with their child.

• Parent conversations and trainings, covering topics such as motivation, screen time, stress, peer pressure and culturally influenced eating habits. During the programme there are 3 to 4 joint sessions with parents.

Children are grouped with peers of a similar age.

Parents are actively involved

At 010 Fit’R, parents are central. You know your child best, which is why your involvement matters. Throughout the programme there are one-to-one sessions with the lifestyle coach, joint parent-child workshops and trainings specifically for parents. This way, you learn how to help maintain healthy habits at home.
